Being A Housewife

Few weeks ago, I met one of my best friends in junior high school until high school. Well, we are still best friend now. But she moved to another school out of this town in the second year of high school. We talked about many things, from our past, our friends, our dreams, to the present, the day we live our life now. She is a house wife now. She is a wife and also a mother for one year old kid. Yes, this friend of mine, got married and became a mother in a very young age, 20 years old. Honestly, I never imagined it before. In school, she was a very active, smart, and critical student. What I saw on her future was an energetic and smart woman with a good career. I though that she will get married when she is 27, after achieving all of her goals.

She told about her life as a housewife, how she managed to take care of her baby since weeks 3, alone. Yes, all by herself. Most of young mother, especially for their first child, needs help from their mother or anyone else to take care of their children (at least, in my opinion). She said that motherhood is no joke. It’s tiring, draining, head-aching, less sleeping, no break time, and of course, no resigning. She had a hard time at first, she got many trouble but she knew that this is the consequence of her choice. And then, she finally got the rhythm. Now she enjoys her job as a wife and mother.

One week later, on my way back to my hometown, in the car, I sat next to the young woman, with her children. We had a lunch together and she told me about her story.

She got married right after graduated from university and selected as a civil servant. She marry a police who moves from one city to another  many times a year. At first, they didn’t have a problem with that situation. But then, after years, her husband asked her to resign from her job and follow him wherever he go. As a wife, she obediently did what her husband ask. She resigned from her job. An early resignation. Now, she is a full-time housewife.

Okay, what does this post actually talk about? Well, I just want to share about what I thought at first after had a talk with those brave women above. Yes, I said brave woman, because in my point of view, they are very brave to take such big responsibilities at a very young age. Get married and be a mother. What crossed on my mind at that time was, how come? You are a very smart woman with a very brilliant career in the future, how come you choose to be a housewife?

Okay, I don’t want to write a long post, lets just shorten this one. This post was actually written long time ago and it was unfinished story. I just found it while organizing my files and folders on laptop. If I finished it before, it would be a different story. Well, maybe the same story with different ending.

I used to never put a house wife on my future career list. But many things happened through my journey. I met many people, I saw many things happened, and it slowly and surely changes my point of view of being a housewife.

Being a housewife is not the last choice, it always comes first for every woman. Being a housewife is pretty much an honor. A Responsibility, oh well, plural forms, the responsibilities of being a wife and mother is the highest degree woman can achieve.

I saw many women do their job as a housewife, and I realized that it is not easy. The closest one is my mother. I want to talk many things about her but I will save it for another story. You may say that being a housewife is not cool, yes, maybe, this one is very subjective. But, saying that this is easy? Oh dear, you should think twice. Because if you consider it as a job, trust me, you cannot find enough number for its salary.

And me, if you ask me what I’m going to do in the future, I will surely answer that my wish is to be a full time housewife and part time lecturer. Is it possible? Yes, if not, then I will make it possible.

Can I get an ameen for my wish, please? Thankyou

Ramadhan

Sholat tarawih dan Qur'an? Selalu diusahakan sebisanya.

After They Left

I used to like to be alone. I can do anything I want without worrying about others. I always enjoy my me-time. I like to go to anywhere with myself because going with others will make me be depending on them. I liked to explore new places with myself. Yes, my self is enough for my company. I enjoyed being with my own. I liked to stay at my room for hours (with bunch of snacks, good movies, good dramas, good books). I didn't need any internet connection, I never touched my phone, and the door and window were always closed. Yes, I really enjoyed that. Sometimes, I went to the public space just with my own. Looking at the people, taking picture, doing silly things, alone. Sometimes I just went around the city by motorcycle with no direction. Alone. Sometimes I spent hours in bookstore (Being surrounded by books is my mood booster). Alone. No, I'm not an introvert. Ask my close friends or family, they know me really well. I just feel comfortable with my own company. I have m...
